When ZacTax launched nearly 5 years ago, it broke new ground in the sales tax analysis space. At the time, there were no web-based platforms for this kind of thing. The major player in this field was still mailing out 100+ page bound paper reports every quarter. In 2014.
One of our biggest selling points was not having to wait 3 months to find out what's going on. We didn't have to do much to gain traction.
But our goal is to lead the pack when in comes to both quality and technology. Within two years, we re-wrote the entire platform from scratch to take advantage of the rapidly changing technological advancements. In the process, we added tons of new features and made our data import process by about 75% more efficient.
Fast forward to 2019, and our competitors have mostly jumped on the web-based bandwagon. While we welcome them, we have no intention of giving up our head start. In July, we started a deep-dive of the entire ZacTax codebase, prepping both for future platforms we're working on and also to strengthen and future-proof our flagship product. Let's take a look!
Infrastructure Improvements
Zac 3 features a revamped backend that will improve page load speed by more than 50% on the most data intensive pages, with the largest benefits going to those clients with the largest data sets.
We've also conducted a full security audit to ensure we're keeping up with industry best practices. Your data's security is extremely important to us!
Beautiful new UI
We've given ZacTax a fresh coat of paint. While you'll still feel right at home, we've made a few tweaks designed to maximize the ability to see your data while also making things easier than ever to find. There's also a dark mode to reduce strain on your eyes when you're digging deep into your data, or answering a late night question from your city manager.
New Features
What we're most excited about, though, are the new features we've been able to incorporate as a result of these changes:
Redesigned Data Grid
Our data-grid has been rebuilt from scratch, providing unparalleled performance for filtering, sorting, searching, and generally figuring out what's going on with your sales tax.
Customizable Dashboards
Your home page dashboard is now totally customizable, so you can make it completely your own. We also provide curated presets for economic development, budget and finance, and C-Suite officials.
City Sales Tax
Many of our cities don't pass the sales tax they collect to the Comptroller, which means it doesn't show up in ZacTax. You'll now have the ability to include this revenue in ZacTax, which makes it easier to include...
Budget Tracking
Yep, it's back! A much-beloved feature from ZacTax 1, Budget Tracking is back and better than ever.
New Metrics
We've spent a great deal of time devising new and extremely useful metrics. Our goal of understanding your sales tax in 5 minutes a month is now closer than ever to being realized.
And much, much more
There's a lot more to share soon, including a leveled-up search feature, several new reports, and more ways to slice and dice your data, we can't wait to share it with you!
All of these great features will be available later this year. Stay tuned for more updates!
