Our Why

Cities matter

Cities are where government gets real. They're where policies meet potholes, budgets meet people, and leadership is measured not in theory but in everyday life. Healthy cities don’t happen by chance — they happen when leaders have the clarity and tools to make confident fiscal choices.

We love cities

We’re former city managers, finance directors, and planners. We’ve sat through midnight council meetings, juggled budget gaps, and carried the weight of a community’s expectations. That work left us with two things: a deep respect for the people who serve cities, and a conviction that they deserve better support than they usually get.

CALLOUT: We’ve been in your shoes. From council chambers to city hall budgets, we know the pressures of running a city because we’ve lived them.

Our purpose is simple

We exist to help cities make better decisions. That means moving past cookie-cutter analysis or revenue chasing. It means telling the fiscal story in a way leaders, staff, and residents can actually act on. And it means caring about the long-term health of a community, not just this year’s line items.

Why our background matters

We’ve lived the consequences of city decisions. We know how it feels to explain tax policy to a skeptical resident or to make payroll with too few dollars and too many needs. That experience keeps us practical, empathetic, and focused on solutions that actually work inside city hall.

CALLOUT: More than consultants. We mentor, coach, and work alongside cities for the long haul.

The bottom line

Better fiscal choices lead to stronger communities. That’s why we do this. Because cities — and the people who serve them — deserve a partner who cares as much as they do.

"Better fiscal choices lead to stronger communities."
